Going to Gun Show Tommorow for Dads suprise Bday
Hopefully, tommorow will be a good day...
Its my pops 60th Birthday and we've been planning a suprise B-Day party for him for about 4 months... Everyone said it was my job to get him to the party without him knowing whats goin on... So, I called him about a week ago and and told him I was picking him up Satuarday morning and we're going to two gunshows... The 1st is a legit gunshow http://www.stlweaponcollectors.com/ then we'll go by Bass Pro Shops and look at overpriced goodies, then we'll go to the 2nd Gun show 'er Party that we are having in big room at a local community center... He retired about a year and a half ago from Ford Motor co and he has really missed all the guys that he worked with for 20+ years, so we got ahold of a bunch of them told them all about the suprise and their in on it... I'll post up some updates about the show afterwards tommorow night... |
Re: Going to Gun Show Tommorow for Dads suprise Bday
hey nice one. Dad took his young bloke to his first gun show (?), now its his Son's turn to repay the favour plus some.
Hope he has a fantastic day. Don't get him too tuckered out before the big shindig. |
Re: Going to Gun Show Tommorow for Dads suprise Bday
Turned out to be a pretty good day...
Picked Dad up a tad before Noon, hauled A$$ out to the local Cabelas so he could pick up a few things and look around a bit, I grabbed several boxes of Federal XM193F rounds, then we went to the St. Charles Gun show... We met John, one of my longtime good friends and shooting buds there... Him and my dad talk alot of Black Powder and Bow stuff... The Show, pretty big turn out, like 500 tables I think it said, I know the place was packed, almost annoyingly so... I found plenty of deals on Bushy ARs in 800-950 range, several other brands like CMMG, LMT, LWRC for like 1300+, lots of decent AKs in the 600+ range, some higher, some decent deals on shotguns in the 400-600 range... Saw a lot of the famous Siaga in 12Ga, .308 and 7.62 I think all from 450-600... Decent prices on Pistols such as Glock, Springfield, Taurus, H&K, Kimber and S&W... Lots of cool stuff to look at... Lots of AR uppers kits and fully stripped Lowers could be had for decent prices... Not much as far as deals on on Ammo or Magazines to be had, they had it, but you were going to pay for it... You could pick up a 200 round box of Reminton UMC .223 62gr. CTFB for 119.00... I thought it was about 25-30.00 to high, but I picked up some as it was local and I was in the mood to waste some FRNs, even if high, I'm a sucker for more ammo and could not resist.... Feeling a bit better about my ammo supplys for now... Overall, we had a real good time at the show... With the current state of things, I was expecting a lot of somber moods and severe gouging and raping on ARsw and anything semi-military looking... Not so much though... Most of the dealers and other folks I talked to were really cool.. So, thats my Gun show report... :) On too the Second Gunshow or really the suprise B-day Party for Pop... John, the friend mentioned above made up and excuse to leave the 1st show a bit early and said he would meet us at the second show... He ran ahead to meet us at the party and be on the lookout at the door covering the parking lot, watching for Pop and I... I told my pop, John is going to me us there and he has our tickets to get in... So, when we pulled up in the lot, I spotted several vehicles that we would recognise, so I made up a story and bitched about teh lot bing full and parked off somewhere away from those, he would notice.. John as planned was at the side door waiting for us, seen us and radioed someone inside and told everyone to cut the lights and get ready... We opend the door and I let pop go in 1st... They cut on the lights and Yelled Suprise!!!!! Happy Birthday... I thought old boy was going to have a heart attack... His eyes were as big as Saucers... He looked at me witha huge grin and said, You Son of a B!tch!!! hehehe... I said, Happy Birthday PoP! and he gave me a big ass Hug and we shook hands.... It was pretty cool... Everything went off 100% perfectly smooth... Good food, good drinks, good people and good conversations were had... Dad thanked us like 50 times... He could not believe we got all the people (friends, realitives and past co-workers) together and had been planning this for the last several months and no one spilled the beans... Not even his two grandkids of 3 and 6 that live with him let on that they knew about it... That shocked me... Even after I took him home and dropped him off, he was still saying thanks... So I'd say the day was a Great Success... |
